Why You Should Have Spunbond Polypropylene Products

There are many different types of protective packaging. Some, like bubble, are so famous they don’t really require much explanation. Others, however, are newer products that you may not have heard of before.

For many people, spunbond polypropylene products fall under that second category. However, you’ll be glad you learned just what makes this protective packaging so useful.

What Is Spunbond Polypropylene?

The name “spunbond polypropylene” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. It does, however, give you clues about what the actual product is.

To make spunbond polypropylene, we bond together spun filaments of fibers. This creates a uniform web of material that can be used in protective packaging.

That explains “spunbond” — but what is polypropylene? Essentially, polypropylene is a type of plastic first synthesized in the 1950s. It is very durable and resistant to stress, making it a component in many of the products we use in our everyday lives, including:

  • Prescription bottles
  • Food containers
  • Trash cans
  • Prescription bottles
  • Food containers
  • Trash cans

In addition to being a highly versatile material, polypropylene is also recyclable. That makes spunbond polypropylene one of the best protective packaging products you can choose if you’re interested in eco-friendly packaging.

Protecting Your Packages

When shipping products, spunbond polypropylene is best suited for surfaces that don’t require cushioned protection.

Spunbond polypropylene doesn’t shield products from sharp impact during transportation. Instead, it ensures that nothing scratches the surface of your product. That makes it a great product when shipping items such as:

  • Electronics
  • Car appliances (side mirrors, steering wheels, etc.)
  • Wood furniture

At Premier Protective Packaging, we offer bags, sheets, sleeves, and tubing of spunbond polypropylene so you can find the right product for your shipping needs. Be sure to do proper testing for your particular needs to make sure your specific surfaces will be protected.

WHAT IS POLYPROPYLENE SPUNBOND NONWOVEN ...

Speaking about the polypropylene or PP spunbond nonwoven fabric, this is manufactured using polypropylene. The raw material is carefully polymerized into a net using a high-temperature drawing. After that, it is bonded properly into the fabric through the hot-rolling method. The product process of this amazing fabric is quite simple, and the output level is large. Besides, as this fabric is harmless, it is widely used in different fields, such as for packing, hygiene products, sanitary materials, and more.
Understanding the Process of Spun Bonding
Spun bonding is a popular method that is used to manufacture polymer-laid nonwoven fabrics. The method includes the melt-spinning technique. Under this method, the melt is created by spin pumps through a spinneret. The spinneret has quench air ducts that supply the conditioned air to cool down the filaments. Besides, the machine also supplies room temperature air continuously during the process.
The material is deposited as a net on a sieve belt. The net will be random in size. The section located below the belt increases the material law down, and a conveyor belt then takes the net to the fiber bonding zone. There, the net is bonded chemically, mechanically, or thermally based on the properties and material in the fabric. However, the most common bonding technology is thermal point bonding.
Is This Fabric Biodegradable or Environmentally Friendly?
Well, one of the major points of discussion is whether the PP spunbond nonwoven fabric is biodegradable or not? This is greatly determined by the nonwovens type created using different types of fibers. The fiber type used in this will determine whether the nonwovens are environmentally friendly or biodegradable.
It is a fact that spunbond PP fabric is widely used in day-to-day applications. Some say that PP is not environmentally-friendly and biodegradable. But the fact is the spun bond can be created with different biodegradable fibers. But biodegradable fibers are quite expensive. That’s why most manufacturers prefer to use polypropylene.
Even though these fabrics are not biodegradable, they can be reused or recycled. For example, bags manufactured using nonwoven material are recyclable, so these bags are environmentally friendly
But if you compare spunbond PP and plastic, you will find that spun-bond PP is more environmentally friendly. It enhances the material’s sustainability index and makes it a much better option than plastic.
However, not all the products made of PP spun bond non-woven fiber can be recycled. For example, medical equipment.
Different Uses of Polypropylene Spunbond Nonwoven Fabric

Accessories and Apparel
This fabric is perfect for clothing, coveralls, pillowcases, and different types of synthetic leather base cloth.
Hygiene, Personal Care, and Medical
PP spunbond nonwoven fabric is widely used to make operation gowns, surgical dressing, surgical masks, bedsheets for hospitals, and more. Besides, you can use this for sanitary napkins, operating coats, isolation gowns, surgical dresses, shoe covers, diapers, disposable medical clothes, disinfecting bags, and more. Its amazing hydrophobic and soft hand properties make it perfect for hygiene products.

Agriculture
The fabric is ideal for making weed control fabrics, crop covers, roots bags, non-woven for seeds, crop protection fabrics, nursery overwintering, and more. Anti-aging fabric is used in agriculture, crop protection, and seeds breeding. There are also UV-stable nonwovens that degrade in nature. This material is environmentally-friendly.

Other Applications
You can also use spunbond nonwoven fabric for furniture packaging and construction jobs. Some ideal applications are pipe wrap, sofa and mattress lining, tile and roofing underlayment, food packaging, and more.

Some Amazing Characteristics of PP Spunbond Nonwoven Fabric:

  • The spunbond nonwoven fabric comes with a three-layered structure.
  • These fabrics are very durable. Besides, they are resistant to wear and abrasion. That’s why these are popular upholstery, textile, industrial, and manufacturing industries.
  • The dense branching of multiple fibers creates a good waterproofing layer.
  • Different studies have proved that this is resistant to microbial attack, chemicals, and corrosion. It demonstrates a decent endurance with molds, mildew, and moths.
  • As the fabric is stain resistant, it can easily withstand long-term and repeated use.
  • PP Spunbond nonwoven fabric is an ideal insulator as it features the lowest thermal conductivity.
  • This fiber is very challenging to ignite. The fabric is not flammable.
Due to these impressive benefits, PP spun bond non-woven fabric is a very popular fabric with various applications across different industries. This material offers better performance compared to others.
